10 Things That Should Appear On The New £1 Coin

A new £1 coin has been announced by the British government and it certainly is a big change from our previous bland rounded one. Not only will it resemble the two pound coin in that it will have two separately coloured areas, it's also going to be 12-sided which bears strong resemblance to the old Threepenny bit. But there's still something missing from this revolutionary coin that is set to reduce coin counterfeiting down to a minute figure. We have Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II's profile engraved on one side of the coin, but The Royal Mint is still missing something to put on the other side. We have to keep in mind however that this pound coin encompasses everything the United Kingdom is and shows our strength and commitment to not following by the EU conventions of using the Euro. The pound coin in itself is a constant reminder of Britain. Honourable Mention: The Beatles

The Beatles are probably one of the first things anyone immediately think of when you say "England" abroad. Their fame is unparalleled and they will probably last longer through the history books than The Queen will herself. However, as typically British as they are, they don't fall into either of the two categories that you're about to read through. They are neither humorously a bad choice nor are they on par with the serious choices you'll be reading about later on in the article. They are in a league of their own and so deserve to get an honourable mention as a true British icon that we actually wouldn't mind seeing on a coin.
