9. Don't Cry Over Spilt Drinks

ghafla.co.ukghafla.co.ukClumsy customers are the worst. The ones that demand a new drink or meal because THEY dropped it is pretty common. What they don't seem to understand is that we do not have to provide a new drink. If the waitress spilt it, the waitress would replace it. Customers presume that they are entitled to a brand new pint, since they spilt the last 3 sips of their current one. The best response is to ask the manager - who you know will say give them the 3 sips they spilt in a fresh glass. When the customer looks at you expecting a whole pint, just smile and apologise. This also means a clean-up operation is needed. Out comes the blue roll, the fresh cutlery and napkins. The never ending phrases of, 'Don't worry about it', 'No harm done' and 'Let me get you a cloth to wipe the red wine of your lovely white blouse' become part of waitress language.
