10 Things Customers Do That Waitresses Hate

8. "Can I Have The Fish And Chips With Sausages Instead Of Fish And Mash Instead Of Chips?"

2 Broke Girls1CBSCustomers enjoy changing the ingredients on the menu. It's like they knew what they wanted to eat but saw the restaurant didn't serve it. Then chose anything on the menu and changed everything in it. A frequently asked question - 'Can I swap this for that?' prompts the best response - 'I'll go ask the Chef for you Sir.' Chefs are busy people and do not like to be disturbed in the middle of service. Often they will just say yes regardless of the obscene request. The customer tends to be a lot more polite once you have gone out of your way to accommodate their needs. There is always one though. They think it is your duty as a waitress to provide for them whatever they desire. Waitresses will try their best - but they do not buy the food, price the food or write the menu. Please don't blame us if the meal you are desperate to have is not there. One rule about swapping food is that it usually works on a like-for-like basis: peas for beans, chips for wedges, chicken nuggets for fish fingers. An out of the ordinary request - 'Can I swap my salad for bacon', is never going to happen.
