livingstingy.comIt's a waitresses worst nightmare to do a 'check-back'. Asking - 'Is everything alright with your meals?' Dreading the reply - 'No it isn't'. The most common reasons are the food is cold, my steak isn't cooked how I asked or the most annoying - 'I haven't got as many chips as I normally do, could I have some more?' Asking the Chefs for more food for free is beyond awkward. Correcting an issue on their part, like the steak, is easily rectified. Having to prise chips or sauces or a new burger bun from the kitchen is a stressful experience. It messes up their stock count -something the waitresses don't have to deal with. The next step is having to be overly nice and pleasant to the customer who has complained. Watching them sit with a table of people who continue to enjoy their meal whilst theirs is being fixed, is almost worth the hassle. The only downside is the dreaded second check-back. Fingers crossed their happy with the meal this time.
