4. He Did Not Attend College
Most of the Founding Fathers were extremely learned men; Thomas Jefferson owned one of the largest libraries known to man, a collection he turned over to the Library of Congress following a devastating fire. Washington's elder two brothers were fortunate enough to attend College, yet the fiscal restraints kept the young George Washington from journeying abroad to enjoy a liberal European education. He undertook a strict self-education policy, ensuring he was capable of interacting with his academic colleagues, as well as contributing to his strategic improvements within the military.
