2. He Did Not Have Wooden Teeth

George Washington Teeth Contrary to the popular myth, Washington's dentures were constructed from a number of materials; bone, hippopotamus ivory, human teeth, brass screws, lead, and gold metal wire. The materials used probably took a wooden appearance after years of use, prompting the beginning of the rumors. Interestingly, Washington acknowledged his poor dental hygiene by the age of 24 and had teeth removed and kept for use in dentures.
