1. Matting And Knots
Theres nothing worse than a customer who brings in a dog thats more knot than animal, and then claims they dont want it shaved. Unless you can take out a magic wand and cast a Harry Potter-style de-matting spell, you have to explain how shaving the dog is the only humane thing to do, often to a look of total bewilderment on the owner's face. Then theres the people who insist they brush their dogs constantly, and that theres no knots in them at all. A lot of time it turns out that they only brush the top 5 millimetres of hair, leaving the several inches underneath to become a matted carpet of filth. Finally we have those who never brush their pets whatsoever between grooms. These people assume going over them for 5 minutes with a brush, half an hour before their appointment, is enough to claim theyre well brushed, and therefore they can have a long, flowing, and knot-free coat.
Are you a dog groomer or do you use one regularly? Can you relate to some of these problems?
