Rather surprisingly for a man estimated to be worth somewhere in the region of 40 billion dollars, Musk embarked on a series of tweets earlier this week stating simply that he intends on selling almost all of his physical possessions and that he will no longer own a house.

Like someone traveling to India to become a monk and achieve enlightenment, Musk explained that while he is slightly apprehensive about the move, he believes that his worldly possessions are weighing him down.

However, decidedly unlike someone who is trying to live without physical assets, the Tesla CEO was quick to point out that he will still be keeping his cars. Musk also explained that part of the reasoning for doing so was that people have used his status as a billionaire to criticise him in the past, and his belief that the term billionaire has wrongly become something of a pejorative in recent years.
