Eliza Patricia Dushku was born on December 30, 1980 in Watertown, Massachusetts to her Albanian-American father and her mother who came from Danish and English descent. Way back in 1920, they were the only family in the entire United States of America with the surname 'Dushku', while her extended family remained very traditional to their roots, and Dushku was raised as a mormon. Her personal life and career clashed while she starred on Buffy, with her devoutly religious Mormon grandmother attempted to call the head of her agency to complain about a sex scene in the show that involved Dushku.
