3. She Revealed That Dumbledore Is Gay
This fact is incredibly well-known at this point, but it would be negligent to leave it from the list. J.K. Rowling's reveal of Dumbledore's true sexuality was the first big post-Potter reveal, and it spread throughout the media like some sort of crazy fire-making spell had been cast. Rowling was reading from Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows at Carnegie Hall when she told the crowd that Dumbledore was in love with the wizard Gellert Grindelwald, who was once close friends with Dumbledore before becoming one of the most powerful Dark Wizards of all time. The vast majority of fans were totally on-board with the news, happy to add another layer of complexity to the character. In fact, Rowling reportedly received a standing ovation from the crowd upon finishing her announcement.
