10 Trivial Things People Hate For No Reason

Vegans, Thursdays, Phil Collins. They are all here. Making our lives a little more annoying.

The people of the United Kingdom are a strange breed; we're raised to be proud of where we're from without ever showing it in case of breaking some sort of protocol or social etiquette. As such, we have a habit of bottling everything up inside until we either fly off the handle with a brutal letter of complaint, or we can begin to communicate in a language comprised entirely of tutting. The result of an extremely British way of life is that no matter how expressive and outgoing you may be, there will always be something which gnaws at your very soul, even if that thing is too utterly ridiculous for such a thing to have that much importance. For example, a common trait in people (particularly of the British persuasion) is that we really, really do not abide by anyone daring to disobey the unspoken law of the queue. To us, there is nothing more sacred than being able to stand in a line at the post office for half an hour as the solitary decrepit cashier switches between one of their four pairs of reading glasses and asks the person at the front how to spell their own name, all the while, we're happy in our queue, everything is in a rightful place. But the second anyone wanders into the midst of that line, knowingly or otherwise, there is widespread outrage. It's like a dagger to the very fibre of our being, and so the natural reaction is to lean over, gasp just slightly quieter than would be audible, and to put our best frown on. But this is not necessarily a British-specific phenomenon, we just happen to be pretty good at expressing our rage in the most inane of ways. People the world over get infuriated by the simplest and most bizarre aspects of everyday life, so, with that in mind, let's take a look at some of the most innocent and unassuming things which people hate for reasons known only to them.
