2016 podcast Up and Vanished covers the missing person case of Tara Grinstead, a high school history teacher from Ocilla, Georgia. Grinstead was first reported missing in October of 2005 when she failed to turn up for work and to this day, she has never been found.

A 2008 48 Hours special covering the case advised that a latex glove was found at the scene and, whilst the police considered a number of suspects, fingerprint analysis was unable to find a match. In 2010 Grinstead was declared legally dead by a judge.

Filmmaker Payne Lindsay recorded Up and Vanished in 2016, visiting Ocilla and working alongside a private investigator to gather evidence and speak to locals about the case. Around 6 months after the podcast aired, police arrested two of Grinstead’s former students, Ryan Duke and Bo Dukes (no familial relation.)

Bo Dukes received a 25 year sentence for helping to cover up the murder after his trial in 2019. Ryan Duke was initially meant to go on trial for murder, concealing a death, burglary and assault in 2019 as well, but due to legal issues and COVID interruptions, the trial is yet to take place, with jury selection set to commence in May 2022.
