8. The Doors

Probably not about the Jim Morrison fronted band (although it would be incredibly cool if it were), The Doors is an unpublished, unfinished novel whose existence was made public by Dr. Michael R. Collings, who has written extensively on the works of Stephen King, starting with The Many Facets of Stephen King in 1985 and continuing into the 2000s with Stephen King Is Richard Bachman in 2008.

Collings' mention of this title is notable for one key reason: doors, as in doors to other worlds, play a large role in King's magnum opus, The Dark Tower series. And there's a strong possibility that's what this is, as it's mentioned in Rocky Wood's Stephen King: Uncollected, Unpublished that The Doors was actually a portion of The Drawing of Three, the second novel in the series.

How much of it is wound up as published material in The Drawing of Three, and how much never saw the light of day? That's the question. The title alone intrigues, and for hungry fans of the author (who generally cannot get enough of his work), that's all that is necessary to create anticipation. However, given how little is known and has been said about The Doors over the years, this may be the least likely of all to be revisited/published. If there's enough there to justify a trip back in Roland's world, however...
