8. The Church Of Chen Tao

Yet another UFO religion, seriously, these aliens seem to be having as hard of a time deciding on one religion as humans do, why do we listen to them?

The Church of Chen Tao was founded in Taiwan by Hon-Ming Chen; they later moved their base of operation to California and then to Garland in Texas, because the town sounded a bit like “God Land”. It's the pretty standard set of alien beliefs really: God has a flying saucer, each person's body has three souls because why not; and the solar system was created by an intergalactic nuclear war.

They also had an apocalypse prophecy. In 1997 Chen predicted that on 31 March 1998 God would be seen on a single television channel across North America. Fast forward to the big day and... nothing. In penance for his false prediction Chen offered to be crucified or stoned to death. There were no takers and the Church quietly and politely disbanded, a rare anti-climax for these sort of beliefs.
