2. Aetherius Society

George King, a former taxi driver from Wellington in Shropshire, conceived the Aetherius Society in 1954 after his mastery of yoga caused him to develop psychic powers enabling him to receive messages from Venus. Yes, more aliens.

And what did these aliens want? To promote cooperation between human and alien, and to campaign for world peace and an end to pollution. See, two out of three of those don't seem that crazy. The Aetherius society also focuses a lot of its teachings and attention on the Cosmic Masters. Jesus, Lao Tzu, and Buddha were all considered Cosmic Masters, visitors from other planets sent to Earth to teach mankind how to behave properly. The society periodically climbed mountains in attempt to draw more energy from these alien prophets. The aliens use mountains as conduits you see, WAKE UP PEOPLE!

Not content with his regal last name, King awarded himself numerous baffling titles including dubbing himself a knight, a doctor, a reverend, a Chaplain of the American Federation of Police, and the Metropolitan Archbishop of the Aetherius Churches. He also claimed to be able to speak all Earth languages but had some issue with French and Norwegian.
