This sounds like the world's worst lie.

Imagine stuffing your face full of endless truffles, then pointing out to family members that the doctor told you it was OK. Throughout history, docs apparently have extolled the virtues of choccies. There are numerous reports suggesting physicians advised singletons to devour copious amounts of chocolate when pining for love, and even dished the stuff out like aspirin.

This is fantastic news for anyone who will be lonely on 14 February. Take a wander to the nearest supermarket, load up on those heart-shaped boxes of goodness and have yourself a merry little mouth party in chocolate dream land.

Then, when you start to feel sick, give the hospital a call and ask if drinking wine will make you feel better...
