Apparently UFO cults are such a popular thing that it's worthy of an entire Wikipedia page. And Wikipedia doesn't devote pages to just anything. A perfect confluence of New Age thinking, cults and alien encounters all occured during the seventies, causing a spate of religions worshipping extraterrestrials to crop up along with them. Perhaps the pinnacle such religions is Scientology. Or, to be less libellous for a moment, the Universe People: followers of a belief system which involves cosmic beings of light powers who came from beyond the stars to the Czech Republic to chat to a guy called Ivo A Benda, both telepathically and in person. Or so he claims. According to Benda, one day, the faithful who pray to the light beings will be transported to another dimension aboard their star fleets. They count Jesus amongst their many deities (apparently he's a fine-vibrations being) and buy into most conspiracy theories. At least lots of people saw Jesus not much reliable testimony about these alien gods.
