Lakshmi is the Hindu goddess of wealth, love, prosperity, fortune, and the embodiment of beauty. The latter point is made clear by famous illustrations of Lakshmi where she boasts four arms and four legs, making her way more beautiful than you mere mortals. So, when a girl was born in India with four arms and legs, what do you think happened? Her parents named the kid Lakshmi and people took to treating her like the reincarnation of that fabled goddess, with Hindus making pilgrimages from miles around to the small village she was born in. Obviously, this girl of which there are many, verified pictures isn't actually a Hindu god made flesh once more. No, she's a kid born with a parasitic twin, which is to say she absorbed her sister's limbs in the womb. Being born during Diwali didn't help sway people from thinking she's a goddess. Her fame brought fortune to her poor family, enough to have surgery to remove the extra limbs...which her father takes as further proof she's totally a for real deity, you guys.
