10 Weirdly Pretentious Adverts That Make No Damn Sense

8. TaxACT €“ Free To Pee

As gross as this is, I was so distracted by how entertaining this little boy was that I totally missed what TaxACT was trying to sell me. I still don't know what TaxACT is about. All I know is that there's this little kid who has to pee and everyone is making it impossible for him. We've all been there. When he chooses to jump back into the pool and pee is where I get lost. Is TaxACT saying that we can pee all over our original tax firm? Because the little boy starts out in the pool, which he knows he isn't free to pee in. So he gets out, tries different places to pee, but in the end, he pees in the pool. And now I'm confused. Is TaxACT the pool? How does this peeing metaphor tie back to filing my taxes? The relief I feel when I finally pee after having to wait is much different than the relief I feel after filing my taxes. It's in my nature to have to pee whereas filing my taxes is something I only just started doing for myself a few years ago. As cute/gross as this commercial is, I think it missed its mark through all the fanfare. Dial it down next time, get to the point faster, and maybe, just maybe, I'll think about TaxACT when I pull out of the H&R Block parking lot in April.
