11 Adverts That Failed So Hard They Actually Won

1. Paddy Power - Oscar Pistorius

Sometimes you just shouldn't trivialise murder... oh wait no, that's all of the time. You've got to almost give credit to the guys at Paddy Power for being being so ballsy with the ad campaign in the first place, as encouraging people to use their service for something as drastically life-altering for all involved as a murder trial, is just complete stupidity. We're sure the guys behind the piece were of a mixed mind when sending it out, with some renegade employee diving through to hit the 'Submit' button, but needless to say the Advertising Standards Agency saw the piece pulled within days of it appearing in The Sun newspaper following thousands of complaints. Still, it sadly proves that there really is no such thing as bad press, as the little publicity stunt (if it was that at the very least) got the masses mentioning Paddy Power far more than they ever had before. Which adverts actually managed to succeed in some fashion despite being awful, or having real-world ramifications that were potentially out of their control? Let us know in the comments!
