10. Peter Ostrum €“ Vet

Equally as cute as his successor Freddie Highmore, but only half as successful in the field of acting. At aged 13, Ostrum made the early decision to resign from acting claiming "everybody thinks that acting is such a glamorous profession, but it's a difficult profession." He turned down a 3-film contract, meaning that the name of Wonka was put to rest until Tim Burton re-opened the factory with his 2005 adaptation.

The original Charlie Bucket from 1971€™s Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory discovered his love for animals when he returned home after filming to find his family had acquired a horse. He earned a doctorate and is now a vet specialising in horses and cattle.

But forget all that. Clearly, he should have taken over Wonka's factory without even thinking.
