7. The Flea Bomb

After Japan surrendered to the United States at the end of World War II, a Japanese submarine surrendered to a Navy destroyer. The submarine was actually a submergible aircraft carrier, far larger and faster than anything in the U.S. military. Inside the submarine were a number of specialised aircraft. One of them was carrying bombs filled with rats and fleas infected with the bubonic plague, intended to be dropped over Washington D.C. and New York.
