11 Things You Need To Know About Universal Orlando's Skull Island: Reign Of Kong

3. The Hype Videos

Since this is the era of cross-media entertainment and immersive backstories and companion websites, Reign Of Kong also comes with TWO websites dedicated to it and its backstory. There's obviously the ride site but there's also the mythology building MythExplorer.com, which has been put together by the marketing team to help build hype for the ride's launch. The site is the home of fictional expedition show €œMyth Explorer€ whose aim is to uncover the secrets behind the mysterious Skull Island, including evidence they've put together. Here's the synopsis for the series:

Adventurer Erin Ryder explores some of the deadliest environments on the planet to find the truth behind the mysterious and unexplained.

On Myth Explorer, Erin and her crew brave an island that doesn€™t appear on any official map€”a rocky, skull-shaped jungle in the Indian Ocean where the story of King Kong originated. Join her quest to uncover the facts that prove the colossal legend is real.
