9. Heather Mills On Going Vegan To Save Her Leg

Famous harpy of hilarity, Heather Mills, has come out with some real gems in the past, but her views on the effects of a vegan diet are particularly precious.

After having the lower half of her leg amputated after a road traffic accident in 1993, the healing process continued to change the remaining limb, requiring some further shortening. Mills didn't want to lose any more (understandably) and so decided to embark on a raw-food vegan diet in order to save it (less understandably).

She got the idea from a mate who claims that the vegan diet cured her breast cancer (a claim that is, at best, a wild exaggeration).

It seems pretty counter-intuitive to cut meat out of your diet in order to regrow a body part that is made of meat, but this is coming from the person who claimed that meat stays in your gut for 40 years, putrefies and leads to "the illness that you die of" ("That is a fact" - Heather Mills, 2009).

There's nothing wrong with being a vegan, Mills, but propping it up on a throne of lies and misinformation isn't going to help the cause.
