11 Weirdest Beauty Contests Throughout The World

6. Beautiful Bulldog Contest

The bulldog above has all of the qualities that judges look for at the Drake University Beautiful Bulldog Contest; suaveness, swag, and style. Coincidentally, or perhaps not, Drake University's school mascot is the fierce Spike, a bulldog who usually sports the school's name on his blue jersey. This bulldog beauty pageant is unique in that it features the multifaceted whimsy of each individual pooch. Whereas most dog shows heavily factor on the "best of the breed" the Beautiful Bulldog Contest focuses more on the presentation of the dog's individual fashion, personality, and more! Being a brooding pup in this case won't help you win. Other categories for the multitude of contestants vying for the prime spot in 2014 include Farthest from the Dog House, Best Dressed, Congeniality, Rescue Dog Recognition, Porterhouse People's Choice, Second Runner-Up, First Runner-Up, and the coveted position of Most Beautiful Bulldog. The lucky winner of the contest receives a royal cape and crown, as well as the love and adoration of thousands of subjects €“ er, fans €“ at the Drake Relays. Each year, after the new contest, a new bulldog ruler takes over as mascot for that year. No bark, no bite, all beauty. That's what a top dog is made of.
