Between 1956 and 2011 KFC used the slogan €œ"finger-lickin€™ good€" in order to help promote their product. However, when the company attempted to translate it into Chinese, they made a complete hash of things.

Using a direct translation rather than allowing for language variation, KFC advertised in China using the slogan: €œEat your fingers off.€ Needless to say, a large proportion of the Chinese proportion were confused - and scared - by such a prospect€
