11. Mitsubishi Managed To Release A Car With A Name That Translated As "W****r"

Mitsubishi

The Mitsubishi Pajero is a sport utility vehicle that was launched in 1982 and has proven to be a huge success - despite the fact that, in some languages, the name is offensive to say the least. In Latin American Spanish slang, "Pajero" means "w****r" or "t****r", meaning that on this continent this name could easily have caused extreme offence.

Instead, the car's named was altered to the "Montero" - meaning "mountain hunter" - in Spain, India and the Americas, while it known as the "Shogun" in Britain.
