There is a strange new breed of events people that have burrowed their way onto Facebook and are unquantifiably more irritating than the group invite people: the promo people. These are people who are paid pennies by a nightclub to spread the brand of their venue, and to pull punters in from social media, on a vague promise of the BEST NIGHT EVER. The reality of that agenda to "spreadthe joy" in this case means relentlessly inviting people to the same event, every week, regardless of whether they have ever responded, or if they're even remotely appropriate for the venue's demographic. It's the same thing. On the same night. Every week. For the rest of time. It quickly becomes apparent that the user promoting a venue is trapped, speaking only in coded messages in the subtext of their rave reviews. For example, "that night at Quentin's Blue Flamingo was totes amazeballs!" may actually be the user saying that if you don't attend and attempt to rescue them, the club owner will fire them from a cannon into the stratosphere.
