13 Most Annoying People On Facebook

5. Motivational Quote Posters

Something that a lot of the stereotypes of Facebook are guilty of is the motivational poster. When originally conceived, these were vague quotations attached to a stock photo of a beautiful backdrop, but by the time they reached Facebook, they were claimed by two groups of people: males who for some reason accept the idea of having swag as a well-thought-out life choice, using the posters to reaffirm that no matter what their doubters say, they're going to win, or some such garbage; and women who've been hurt emotionally. These often appear as a mushy expression of how their heart, despite its current state of itty-bitty pieces, will bounce back and that the person who broke it is a subhuman blob, unworthy of sharing the same oxygen as the poster, who has been imbued with new found strength. But then you have the lowest form of these posters: a random quote about being strong and beautiful being pasted on over an image of Marilyn Monroe, regardless of whether she said the thing in the first place. And of course, you also have the responders, who lap this uninspired drivel up, offering messages of hope and solidarity: "he's not worth it anyway..." and "SO true!!!!" Vaguely offering what they pretend is their support, when all they want is an opportunity to hijack the misery of the situation to tell anyone who is interested how their own experiences are also terrible, and that they too deserve all the attention.
