Quite simply, aside from the pay, they are the reason you get up in the morning and go to work. Youll notice them long before they notice you, then, one day theres a smile thrown your way and nothing is ever the same again. Theyre everything you look for in another person, revealing more in common with every day, the music on their iPod, the book they read at break or the fact that they turn out to hate working in a call centre just as much as you do. Youll rush in early for your shift to see if you can get a seat near them, try to engage in conversation on break time, but theres always someone louder on the table trying to tell the tale of their weekend that you just dont quite get your chance. Youll more than likely find out eventually that they get the same bus to and from work, but the one ten minutes earlier, and youve lost out on months of conversation through being a bit lazy, or taking an extra ten minutes in bed. Make sure you talk to them though; its always worth it (well, almost always worth it).
