I'm just going to leave this here for a second: Almost wherever you occupy in London, you can't forget that you are part of this exciting and vibrant community - and that's what it is. When you can see the Shard from where you work and when you live in Zone 3 you can't help but feel united, even when it doesn't always feel that way among the bustle and occasional-anonymity. New venues like the Nana Cafe cement London's spirit of togetherness, and you're rarely far from home thanks to the wealth of high-speed rails that connect the city with the rest of the country. And, for if nothing else, the view when crossing Waterloo bridge - with St. Paul's, the South Bank, the Shard and the OXO tower on one side and Westminster, Big Ben, and the London Eye on the other - is a great reason to be a Londoner in 2014.
