14 Great Reasons To Be A Londoner In 2014

It's the media capital of Europe and one of the most instantly-recognisable cities in the world...or perhaps because they have a cat-themed cafe? Yeah, probably that one.

London's alright you know. It may be a drain on the rest of the country, but it does have its share of positives! Love it or hate it, it's the home of some of the most recognisable architecture and most recognisable people, as well as being a smorgasbord of entertainment and events no matter what your tastes. Like any city, it has its pros and cons, but unlike any other city, its pros are usually absolutely goddamn awesome. London is the city where anything can be mainstream: it's where you can go to a rave before work; where you can recreate music videos doing Videoke; where you can get married to a stranger for one night only; where nearly every country is culinarily represented by an awesome restaurant (probably in Brixton market). But you knew all of that. London isn't exactly glossed over in terms of its news and events (remember when the whole of Somerset was flooded for months and nobody knew, but then the Thames went over its bank a little bit and it was a national disaster?) The past few years have been pretty big for London, what with the Summer Olympics that nobody would shut up about, and let us also not forget the regular annual events that get bigger with each year - Notting Hill Carnival, Wimbledon, Fashion Week, Pride, Hyde Park Winter Wonderland. 2014 is set to be London's biggest year yet, so what can Londoners (or visitors to London, you're allowed to join in) look forward to this year?

Fan of Taylor Swift and the Dead Kennedys (a duet I can only dream of). I like dystopias, slasher films, and video games that make me feel things.
