14 Problems Only People From Milton Keynes Will Understand
13. Only You Understand The True Meaning Of These Cows
While a scattered array of painted cows might seem like mere decoration of the town on the MK council's part, the infamous cows actually mean a fair bit more to the locals. Artist Liz Leyh's iconic 'Concrete Cows' were created in 1978 as part of a community art project in celebration of the green fields surrounding the town. Sadly, despite best intentions, the cows have been treated pretty badly. Sometimes they have simply been vandalised, while at other times they have been painted pink, become zebras, had pyjama bottoms added, have been beheaded in the style of Damien Hirst, have acquired BSE (mad cow disease) graffiti, AND had one of the calves kidnapped (with ransom notes to the local papers). Poor things.
I love Stephen King and music festivals; I eat my toast upside down; I daydream about getting married probably a bit too much; and I wish every day for a pet sausage dog puppy (who never materialises – sob).
