Perhaps the only thing worse than losing motivation is the injury. Now, usually an injury could happen during the winter. At the time when, really, you could do without the training. Yes, it would mean dropping out of a race but, well, its cold and when the sun comes out, wow, youre going to feel great. Injuries, however, are nasty little things because they usually come when youre at your peak. They usually happen when you have your favourite race coming up. In fact, pick your happiest moment of the year, picture yourself smiling on the start line, then picture yourself smacking a baseball bat off your knee. That, that right there is your body taking the proverbials out of you. If you have friends who run, its even worse. They can give you all the sympathy in the world but you know what theyre really thinking. Thank God its not me. The physio is boring. The resting up and inevitable weight gain is depressing and when your knee is sorted and youre ready to run again and restart your life? Yep. Its winter again. Thanks knee. Thanks a lot. Knee Problem as the Scots would say.
