14 Reasons Your 20s Are Just Like The Lord Of The Rings

8. You Find Out Who Your Real Friends Are

When the going gets tough (and you and your gang start making different choices in life) you realise who your true and loyal acquaintances are. Aragorn, Legolas and Gimli may well be in a different place to Frodo and Sam, but they're still fighting for the same cause, and behind Frodo all the way. That's what friends are for, right? When you decide that working is too much and actually you want to take a delayed gap year, your true friends are the ones who encourage you to go, to do what you need to do, to fulfil the deep part within you that just needs to get off the road for a while and be a little more independent. They'll support your desire to test your limits - and while they'll worry about you and wish you would just come home, the best of friends will be at the airport/Gondor waiting for you with open arms. Friends don't hold grudges just because you ventured some where dangerous without them.

I love Stephen King and music festivals; I eat my toast upside down; I daydream about getting married probably a bit too much; and I wish every day for a pet sausage dog puppy (who never materialises – sob).
