There are seemingly fewer and fewer actresses in the spotlight recently who escape the glare of scandal and sordid photographs being leaked with such ease as Natalie Portman. She seems to be an effortlessly classy woman, content to live her own life in private with as little fuss as possible from the outside world. More than that, she is usually pretty good at picking roles which not only suit her, but which belong to critically acclaimed films, thus building her reputation further. To top it all off, she has a name which is reminiscent of classic actresses of yesteryear: it's simple and not showy, but not forgettable. It's almost like she picked the name to match herself...though she's probably not simple. But for the sake of wading into immature territory, we must point out that Natalie Portman's actual surname is Hershlag. First off, the name sounds unpleasant; it's a collection of consonants squashed together in the middle, and it ends up making an particularly unsavoury sound. Secondly, and by far more importantly, is the fact that it contains the word "slag" if delivered in a typical Ray Winstone style - which is essentially the only way the word is ever said these days. For those who aren't quite aware of that delightful word, it refers to a lady of loose sexual morals... Now put that image next to Natalie Portman (behave) and it doesn't quite match, does it?
