15 WTF Corporate Tweets That Definitely Got Someone Fired

5. NRA Tweets About Shooting On Day Of Aurora Massacre

Celeb Boutique taking to Twitter without knowing about the Aurora shooting was bad, but at least their company doesn't have anything to do with guns. Arguably even worse was the response of the National Rifle Association just hours after the attack.

The American Rifleman, a firearms publication owned by the NRA, sent this out on the morning of the Aurora massacre: "Good morning, shooters. Happy Friday! Weekend plans?" It's totally innocuous without context, but considering one shooter's plans involved slaughtering dozens of people just a few hours prior to this tweet, the timing could not have been worse.

The tweet wasn't deleted for several hours, and a spokesperson said, "A single individual, unaware of events in Colorado, tweeted a comment that is being completely taken out of context," which is a pretty aggressive apology, isn't it? How can you take a three sentence tweet out of context, anyway?

The lesson here? Once again, always check the news before tweeting.
