15 Genius Kickstarter Projects That Must Succeed

1. Help Us Find 52, The Lonely Whale

The Project:

The reasoning for this number one couldn€™t be simpler: it is a project that, irrespective of what you€™re interested in, be it design, dance or games, tells a story that you€™re going to want to see unfold up on the big screen. A passion project of Adrian Grenier (yes, Vincent of Entourage fame) and Josh Zeman, Help Us Find 52, The Lonely Whale, tells the sad tale of the eponymous mammal, who scientists believe has spent its whole life alone beneath the waves, singing a song that no other whales seem to hear. A suspected victim of ocean noise pollution, the whale€™s plight covers years of solitude, becoming almost myth like in its make up. Sad story aside, this is a huge project that involves charting an expedition 400 miles off the coast of California to find 52, recording the whole trip and releasing the film to audiences, as well as delving into the intricacies of underwater sound information. For us, this is a story that has lurked in the depths for too long.

Who's Behind It?

Adrian found fame as an actor before starting up Reckless Productions, which is a vehicle for creating features such as this one. Josh is a producer and director, with his best known efforts wielding the megaphone including creepy doc, Cropsey, and even creepier feature Killer Legends.

The Goal:

The whale will receive a happy ending if a grand total of $300,000 is pledged.
