Back in 2014, director David Lynch personally selected short, Milkmaid, as the winner in his MA in film scholarship comp, thus gifting director Agnes Baginska a deserved place on the course. Better still, the film went on to be accepted at the Cannes Film Festival in the Short Film Corner. Not one to rest on her laurels, or hide her light under a bushel (last horticultural gag, we promise), Agnes is now working on a follow up - The Last Tree Standing. This sequel will follow on from its predecessor and looks set to retain the originals Slavic folk tale roots, introducing us all to the titular character who it transpires is a descendant of the Milkmaid. Already featuring on Lynch's Welcome to Twin Peaks fan-site, this has all the makings of another festival pleaser, from a filmmaker that continues to grow.
Who's Behind It?
The feature is being produced by Aussie outfit ZPM Studios, from a screenplay written by Agnes. Crew members include cinematographer, Zachary Peel-McGregor, whos recent CV entries include The Wolverine plus The Great Gatsby, as well as that all important illustrator in Lauren Rose Metzler.
The Goal:
The tree will only grow if the film-adoring public hits the link and starts contributing. The target is $18,000 Australian Dollars. https://d2pq0u4uni88oo.cloudfront.net/projects/1579931/video-498104-h264_high.mp4
