2. There's Actually A Second Football Team From Stoke
Stoke City F.C. doesn't have a monopoly on football in the city. There's a second football club in the Potteries and its name is Port Vale. Tensions can run high when the two teams play each other, since Vale fans are every bit as passionate as Stoke City fans. Fortunately for the residents hiding indoors during the aftermaths of these local derbies, the match-ups occur infrequently since the teams are in different leagues. For Vale fans, there's a persistent feeling that their club gets overlooked most of the time. Unlike Stoke City's shiny, modern Britannia Stadium, Vale Park dates back to 1950. At least Vale Park is within walking distance of the Saggar Maker's Bottom Knocker in nearby Burslem, so fans can get a decent pint.
