9. Going To Work On Sundays

Perhaps one of the first things the expat living in Dubai has to come to terms with is the new weekend - unlike Western countries which have their weekends on Saturday and Sunday, in Dubai the weekend falls on Friday and Saturday. The seasoned expat is no doubt accustomed to this change after a few weeks but for the new arrival it can be rather confusing and, when assuming that Sunday is the day of rest, more than a little frustrating when the alarm goes off in the morning and you have to get up and go to work. Still, on the plus side at least the weekend is still two days long, so once the adjustment has been made life can be resumed pretty much as it was before arrival.
