Barnum Statements are those generic phrases or descriptions that are so broad and undefined that they seem to apply to everyone. Horoscopes are the most obvious example. They may sound like they describe your personality and your lifestyle perfectly, but if you check the other star signs' horoscopes then you will probably find that they also make complete sense to you. The top spiritual mediums and psychics do it too. They hear the 'voices of deceased people' from very broad demographic groups. For instance, a medium might claim to be in contact with an elderly woman whose name began with 'M', such as Mary or Margaret. The statement invites the audience to fill in the blanks. Karl would be skeptical, and too right. Basically, it's a load of hocus-pocus bullsh*t. A lot of money is wasted on feeding this industry, money that could be in our pockets!
