2014 saw the release of Whiplash, a film where JK Simmons off of Spider-Man played an intense jazz drumming teacher who got results, dammit. The movie received widespread critical acclaim, but surely not plaudit could quite live up to the one offered by a brave soul somewhere within the continental United States who put a drum stick in their bum to celebrate. How Simmons took the honour is yet to be reported. He's probably busy anticipating his nominations for best supporting actor at the 30th Independent Spirit Awards, the New York Film Critics Circle Awards, the San Francisco Film Critics Circle Awards, the 72nd Golden Globe Awards, and the like.
