15 Thing Only Pizza Shop Employees Will Understand

Your order will be ready when it's ready, so deal with it.

Pizza is one of the most popular foods in the world, but it's especially popular in the United States. Every town you enter is peppered with pizzerias that are both part of major chains as well as family owned mom and pop shops. If you have ever worked at a pizza parlor, then you know there are certain things you have to deal with that almost no other job on the planet encounters. It might sound easy to sling pies for a living, but there are major downsides to this kind of low-wage position. When it comes to a pizzeria, there are basically two jobs. You can either be the guy who takes the orders and cooks the pizza or you can be the guy who delivers it. Either way, you often have to deal with rude customers who think their time and money is more important than yours. The nerve of those people. It could be anything from having the wrong toppings, taking too long to deliver the food, not honoring a competitor deal or not taking an expired coupon that pushes customers over the edge, but once they're pushed, they never seem to let up. This article will look at 15 things you will only understand if you've worked in a pizza parlor.

15. You Only Have So Much Time To Change Your Order

When you call in your order to a pizzeria, we pretty much start making it right away, which means you have precious little time to change your order if needed. So don't call in an order and then call back 10 minutes later to add pepperoni to your pizza or inform us of a food allergy one of your guests has that you didn't know about before, because your food is probably close to being done as it is.

14. We Don't Know Where The Ingredients Come From

All natural ingredients and locally grown produce are all the rage these days. There is a major health boom in the United States that causes people to want fresh foods that are healthy. That doesn't mean your local pizza parlor is using them. Your health conscious attitude is fine, but don't expect a place that thrives on grease and cheese to know where the tomatoes were grown or if the cheese was made from the milk of a local cow.

13. Weekends Are Busier

One of the best parts about ordering from a pizzeria is having the food delivered right to your door, but there are only so many drivers to get the deliveries out to you. If you call on a weekend, expect the wait time to be at least an hour, and if it is, do not complain to the person on the phone. They do not control how fast food is cooked and they certainly don't control how many orders come in ahead of you. Your business is valuable, but you're not special.
