15 Things You Miss About Being A Kid At Christmas

14. Hoping The Snowman In Your Garden Would Come To Life

the snowman and the snowdog2 If it wasn€™t for the wonderful Channel 4 animation The Snowman, you suspect the festive enthusiasm for kids building snowmen up and down the country wouldn€™t be quite so pervasive. There was nothing more exciting than your parents waking you up one morning to tell you to quickly look out of the window. And you knew why. Seeing that first snowfall of winter was truly mesmerising and rushing out to make good use of it was imperative. You€™d spend whole hours rolling a snowball into a huge body, stick a smaller, slightly misshapen one on top as a head then stand back and wonder why it didn€™t look at all like The Snowman. Still, you€™d eyeball it all day and evening from the window hoping it would magically spring into life and take you flying around the neighbourhood. It never did though and the poor sod would ultimately melt into a disgusting pile of black snow and face-lacerating ice. Sigh.
