15 Things Only People From Bedford Will Understand
10. Having A Gang And Playing In The Wooden Castle At Russell Park
That wooden castle will be celebrated by every kid who ever played in Russell Park. Perfect for sheltering from the rain in autumn or cooling off in the shade of one of its cubby corners during summer, it also made for a great arena if you wanted to play a ten year olds version of Game of Thrones. There was no other thrill like it: running across those scarily unsteady bridges, hiding in the turrets from the big kids, and burning yourself on the metal slide which gleamed like molten lava during August made for a perfect hide-and-seek or stuck-in-the-mud stadium. It also beat the more colourful and modern playground just across the park hands down.
I love Stephen King and music festivals; I eat my toast upside down; I daydream about getting married probably a bit too much; and I wish every day for a pet sausage dog puppy (who never materialises – sob).
