12. The Lure Of Poteen
Poteen is basically Irish moonshine. People all over the province used to regularly brew and drink this foul concoction which is essentially whiskey made of potatoes. Known for making those who imbibe it go blind, the success of Poteen (pronounced Pot-cheen) really goes to show how resourceful the Northern Irish are in ensuring if there was ever a ban on liquor, they would all be grand due to their inventive alcohol brewing. Quite why anyone drinks the stuff is unfathomable when they can have a nice cold pint of Harp - the national beer of Northern Ireland. And a good wee beer it is too.
