7. If You Were A Little Too Well Off
Do you as an independent woman have too much money? It might not be a problem now, but it certainly was a few centuries ago. Women who had money despite little or no support from brothers, their father or a husband were considered the ultimate threat in the 1600's.These women were isolated from the village until they were put on trial for being witches. Between 1620 and 1725, 90% of independent women were hanged for dabbling in witchcraft.
