12. The Truman Show
10 years, maybe, but FIFTEEN? Watching it today, The Truman Show seems almost prophetic in its reality television premise, given how the format would come to dominate our TV screens a few years after this thing hit cinemas. And this was the movie that turned a fair few Jim Carrey naysayers into fans, given his equally comical and dramatic performance as Truman Burbank, a friendly schmo who comes to discover his life is the sum of a complex and orchestrated television show. Looking back on this 15 years later, and it hasn't dated at all. Good morning, good afternoon, goodnight!
Obscure Fact: The original script painted the movie as more of a sci-fi thriller in the vein of a Twilight Zone episode (and it was set in New York). The final movie, you'll agree, is way more "Jim Carrey" than that.
11. ...Baby One More Time
Okay, so, this still gets enough airplay to feel kind of contemporary - at least, it doesn't feel in anyway as though 15 years have passed since Britney Spears donned that schoolgirl outfit and hit the corridor, forcing men everywhere to feel awkward about flustering over a teenager. I don't know if anybody quite knew what had hit when "...Baby One More Time" came into their lives. We're not even sure how good the song is (not that that matters), because - fact is - the music video is probably the most iconic of the '90s, and Britney Spears is unbelievable hot in it. Doesn't it make you feel even older when you realise Britney is now in her 30s? Sigh.
Obscure Fact: People are still confused, 15 years later, as to what "hit me baby one more time" even means. To be frank, so are we. Apparently it means "hit me up with a message," and not "punch me in the face."
