15 Things You Won't Believe Have Been Banned Around The World

4. Video Games Are Banned In Greece

Certifiably one of the more ignorant laws passed since the change in millennium was Greece's 2002 ruling that the playing of all electronic games would be against the law. What's hilarious about the ban is it occurred because elected officials in Greece did not want to take the time to learn the difference between the gambling machines they wished to see go and the video games people play everyday. Instead they banned everything, assuming no one would care. As you can imagine - people cared very much so - reports of teenagers being hauled off to jail for playing Mario in Internet cafes surfaced and the European Court of Justice was prompted to contact the Greece government to explain carefully why they were being stupid. Instead of swallowing their pride and repealing the erroneous law, Greece answered they would show more leniency to players of those things they kept calling video games.

3. Reincarnating Without Permission Is Banned In China

It's actually quite pathetic how low some governments will stoop to show they have complete control over their populace. In China, where the primary religion is Buddhism, many believe that after death they will be reincarnated several times before reaching nirvana. Except now, before you die you must first obtain the government's written permission to do so or have your reincarnated self face the dire consequences. Now ignoring the utterly illogical aspect of this law.... nope, we can't. It's just too stupid.
